1. Material Description

Quartzsand / Quartzgravel is a natural filter material that is used for the filtration fo drinking water, swimming pool water industry and sewage water. It is available in a variety of grain sizes, the smaller sizes (< 2 mm) of which are used as filter layer, whilst the greater sizes (> 2 mm) are mainly used as carrier or support layer. Quartzsand / Quartzgravel is refined through selective sorting, washing, drying, and sieving according to EN 12904. The grain form of Quartzsand / Quartzgravel has rounded edges thus the grains appear quasi smooth. It is used predominately for multi-layer filter systems.

7. Correction factors

A simple backwash rate correction is not available. The values for the backwash rates given in the above table are applicalbe at 20°C and should be corrected for other temperatures and grain sizes. The optimum amount of filter material must be adjuested to the respective enviroment. If more information is required please contact EVERS ENGINEERING.
